Our story

Practical Cyber was born out of Ethan's desire to bridge a massive gap - between business, cybersecurity and operations. While we have spent a lot of time training technically strong cybersecurity practitioners, the gap between technical and non-technical people was getting wider, creating a greater divide.As such, cybersecurity has become a sensitive topic that is hard to traverse. For those with no technical background, it is too immense for them to tackle.

For the technical people, they cannot get the engagement of the business leaders and operations.Working with cybersecurity experts, business leaders and experienced adult trainers, Practical Cyber is designed to equip all stakeholders of cybersecurity, from the employees to the C-suite to the board members, to understand cybersecurity; and for cybersecurity practitioners to understand and enhance their roles within their organisations.

We are actively developing research and content to bridge the gap, while engaging with organisations on a business level to demystify cybersecurity, and building programs to equip technical practitioners.

We look forward to changing the cybersecurity market by engaging differently and meaningfully, to improve the cybersecurity posture of every individual and organisation.

Meet our leadership

Ethan Seow is ISACA Singapore’s 2023 Infosec Leader, ISC2 2023 APAC Rising Star Professional in Cybersecurity, TEDx and Black Hat Asia speaker, educator culture hacker and entrepreneur with over 11 years in entrepreneurship, training and education.His passion for effective technical training led him to form a cybersecurity training organisation that has, to date, trained more than 200 individuals and supported the entry of more than 100 individuals into the industry during his time. Since then, he has taught over 500 people across military academies, organizational leadership, and different groups of people.

He is the CEO of Practical Cyber and Cyber Intel Training, two arms of cybersecurity education designed for holistic cybersecurity education. Practical Cyber focuses on educating non-IT and business personnel in organisations in cybersecurity, simplifying and making cybersecurity relevant and actionable at every level. Meanwhile, Cyber Intel Training specialises in technical cybersecurity training across different experience levels, focusing on real-world simulations and engaging pedagogy. He is also a head crew of Division Zero (Div0), Singapore’s largest cybersecurity community, and SINCON, Singapore’s top local technical conference with attendees across different public and private sector top brass.

Ethan has worked with, trained and placed people with Singapore’s Cybersecurity Agency of Singapore (CSA), Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), OT-ISAC, SMRT, Singapore Power, Energy Market Authority, GSK, Keppel Corporation, and many of Singapore’s top cybersecurity firms.

Deepak Talwar is a distinguished technology leader with 24 years of expertise in cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and national security.
At Microsoft, he functioned as the National Security Officer, where he collaborated with governments, customers, and partners to build trust in cloud adoption and secure critical infrastructure.

Daniel Goh is a seasoned cybersecurity professional and the founder of ATET Security, established in 2019 with the mission to make cybersecurity practical and affordable for all companies. He is also an advisor to Practical Cyber, and is a co-author to the book, providing his years of experience and knowledge from contributing the cybersecurity policies himself.

He began his cybersecurity career with the Singapore Infocomm Technology Security Authority (SITSA), focusing on safeguarding the nation's information infrastructure.
In 2013, Daniel joined the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), where he played a pivotal role in developing the Aviation Sector's cybersecurity strategigrated cyber elements into the aviation regulator’s crisis management plan and co-authored the article "Aviation Cyber Security: A New Security Landscape" in the Journal of Aviation Management in 2014.
Daniel also contributed to the Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP) programme in Singapore, conducting inaugural Operational Technology Security assessments across various industries. Additionally, he spent several years with ST Electronics, integrating and securing large-scale military systems.

At ATET Security, Daniel continues to leverage his extensive experience to provide cybersecurity consulting services, training, and advisory services, helping companies evaluate their security capabilities and enhance their IT system infrastructure. Through ATET Security and Practical Cyber, Daniel contributes to the cybersecurity ecosystem and hopes to secure as many companies as possible.
